What I'm Thankful For...
I decided that since I probably won't get around to blogging on Thanksgiving Day, I would go ahead and blog about what I am thankful for right now while I'm online. I have been thinking a lot lately about gratitude and the holiday season. I have been trying to figure out how to make this holiday season extra special for my children, especially since Mya is getting to the age where she can understand some things.
Until today, I hadn't really been feeling much of the holiday spirit. I could probably list a hundred reasons why that is, but today something changed that. It really wasn't anything big, but it completely changed my outlook. I was in the kitchen holding Noah and getting dinner ready for me and Mya, when I had this overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude for my children and my role as a mother and as a part of Heavenly Father's plan. It was so simple and sweet, and it has helped change my outlook on everything.
I want to make sure that this holiday season is special and memorable for my whole family. I want to make sure I take pictures and write down everything. I want to start traditions for when we put up the Christmas tree and how we do presents and how we give to others. I want to make sure we do Sub for Santa or the Christmas tree donations. I want to read the Christmas story in Luke 2 every Christmas Eve.
So, I'm thankful to be a mother and to have 2 beautiful children. I am thankful for a wonderful husband who is willing to work long, crazy hours to provide for our family. I am thankful for the opportunity to be making enough money to be able to get out of debt. I am thankful for a husband who is kind, understanding, and patient with me. I am thankful for an amazing support system from all of our extended family. I am thankful for the close relationships I have with my brothers and sisters. I am thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the blessings it has brought to my life. I am thankful for the blessings of a temple marriage. I am thankful for a living prophet and the guidance he gives us from the Lord. I am thankful for my desire to learn new things. I am thankful for the talents that I do have and for the talents of others that I am able to enjoy. I am thankful to be privileged to live in such a great country where I'm free to choose. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to serve others. I am thankful for southern hospitality and that my children will have some of that programmed in their personalities.
I could go on and on and on, as I'm sure all of you can, but I will stop there for now. I have so many things to be thankful for that I'm positive I could never list all the things that the Good Lord has blessed me with. The most important things I have are my family, my testimony and my life. Of course, I cannot forget to mention how incredibly grateful I am for the Atonement and Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I know that without Him we would not be. he is the path back to Our Father. He is our Exemplar and Friend. Through Him we can accomplish anything.
I wish you all a wonderful, enjoyable Happy Thanksgiving! We love and miss you all!!!
