Daddy's Birthday & the State Fair of Texas

On Friday we went to the State Fair of Texas. We were there for 4 hours. We walked around a lot. We saw a bunch of animals. We checked out all the crazy types of food--all fried. They had fried peanut butter and jelly and banana sandwiches, fried ice cream, fried hamburgers, fried pizza, and fried butter. We decided to try the fried butter since we thought it was so weird. I thought it was going to be a spoonful of butter that they dipped in batter and fried, kind of like fried ice cream. Not at all! It was more like buttery dough that was fried up with jelly on top. That's what we got on ours. We also took the kids on the Star of Texas, the ferris wheel. Teeny loved it, and was trying to climb all over inside the cage-thing. Monster, on the other hand, did not like it at all. He started to freak out when he realized that we were going up high. It's so weird that a child so small can have a fear of heights.

The baby piggies that Teeny wanted to pet really badly, but she couldn't reach them.

I forgot what this was called, but it is some sort of goat from Europe somewhere, I think. I thought it was crazy because it has 4 horns.

This is Big Tex. He is the talking cowboy in the middle of the fairgrounds. After we saw him, every time we saw a picture or drawing of him Teeny would say, "Look, there's Big Tex!" It was cute!

This is what we watched right when we walked into the fairgrounds. There were some pirates doing a demonstration, and one of them had climbed all the way to the top of the mast. He dove into 8 feet of water.

On Friday, September 11, we went out to dinner for Daddy's birthday. We went to this really yummy Mexican restaurant in Godly called Del Norte. When we got home, we had some cake and sang to Daddy.
