Seattle, Part 1
On Thursday, September 8, daddy and I flew to Seattle to spend a few days before our cruise. Two days before that, I drove to my friend's house in Arkansas to meet Granny since she would be watching the children for us. We got to her house late that evening, and Granny arrived the next afternoon. The kids had fun playing with my friend's two boys. They are close to Tink and Skinja in age. I was rather surprised at how well the children did with leaving me, especially Teetee. When I buckled her in her carseat in Granny's truck, she just looked at me, smiled and waved goodbye. Skinja was the only one who even got a little fussy when he realized I wasn't going with them, but he got over it rather quickly. I managed to keep myself fairly composed, but I'm pretty positive that it was much more difficult for me than for the children. I drove back home as soon as they had left.
When we got to Seattle, we got our rental car, checked in to our hotel and then went to dinner. I know I have mentioned it before, but one of our favorite shows is "Man vs Food." so, naturally, we wanted to try out the restaurants featured on the show. The place we went to dinner is called Red Mill Burger, and it was fantastic! We really enjoyed it.
After dinner we drove back to the hotel, and since it was still fairly early, we decided to walk to the Space Needle. It was beautiful out and only took us about 15 minutes to walk there. We went up to the observation deck and walked around and took pictures.
Friday we explored Seattle. We had breakfast at Beth's Cafe where we shared a twelve egg omelet called the triple bypass, which we couldn't finish. Afterwards, we drove around for a little bit and decided to take the ferry across the bay to Bainbridge Island. It was beautiful there. We drove around the island, and then decided to stop at a walking trail. Gorgeous weather and scenery!
When we got back to Seattle, we had lunch at Georgia's Greek. I had never had Greek food before, and I LOVED it. Then we went to Gasworks Park and wandered around. It was very relaxing and such a wonderfully warm, sunny day. That night for dinner we went to Bizzarros. It is an Italian restaurant. It was a little pricy, and it was good, but nothing spectacular I didn't think.
Saturday morning we drove to the airport to pick up Papa Kelly and Gamma Liz. After we got back to the hotel and unloaded everything, we drove out to Issaquah to eat lunch at a place called Triple XXX Root Beer. It is a great little burger joint decorated in classic car decor and all the burgers are named after classic cars. I don't know if any of us were able to finish our food because of how much we were given, but it was pretty tasty. That evening we went to Safeco Field and watched the Mariners play the Royals. I had some pretty tasty garlic fries while we were there. It was fun to go and hang out, but the game wasn't super exciting.
Sunday morning before we boarded our cruise, we went on a Segway tour of Seattle. Daddy has always wanted to ride on one and I found discount tickets to do the tour. He was a natural at it, of course. I, on the other hand, was a bit nervous at first, but once we had been going for a little while, I started to feel pretty confident and comfortable. Shortly after we started, daddy was messing around a little and fell off his Segway but somehow managed to leave his shoe on it. Then, about halfway through the tour, his dad was trying to go as fast as he could, I think, and do some quick turns or something and ended up flying over his Segway. I was right behind him and saw the whole thing. Once we knew he was okay, we found it quite amusing.
After our tour, we checked our luggage on to the cruise, and then had to drive back out to the airport to drop off the rental car. We took the Light Link Rail back, and had to walk back to the dock for the cruise. We ended up walking through Pike Place Market.

This one is part of Seattle, the bay and the Olympic mountains.
Mountains--So pretty!
Me
I really like these black and white pictures Daddy took of the city.

The ferry we rode on. We actually drove our rental car onto it and then walked around and took pictures for the 30 or so minutes it took to get across the bay.

On the trail we walked on--It was absolutely beautiful there and very peaceful and relaxing!
LOVE this picture!!! (Daddy took it, of course. ;)
Very large tree :)

Ever since I saw the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, I have wanted to see the troll under the bridge in Seattle. So, here we are. :) We weren't able to get a really great shot of it from down the street because there was construction, but at least we got to see it.
This was a sun dial at Gas Works Park that I thought was really neat. You stand on the time line in the picture below at the approximate date of the year, and then look at where your shadow is. That is the time. I thought it was pretty neat. I've never seen such a detailed sundial before.

It was Hispanic night at the ball game.
I just like this picture of Safeco Field sign and you can see the Seahawks stadium and some of the city in the background.
The Moose--He was in the section right next to where we were sitting.

I think this picture looks really cool.
The Gum Wall--All that stuff on the wall and window is chewed up gum. A little gross, but kinda cool. :)
Going down a very steep hill. There are quite a few in Seattle.
