Our Christmas Tree

(I think the tree looks really good in this picture, even though Mya and I are blurry.)

We finally put up our Christmas tree last night. Yay! We have decided that one of our traditions is going to be putting up the tree on the first Monday night in December for Family Night. Since Toby was working on Monday, we decided to wait until he got home to do it. We have also decided that each of the kids will get a different color of mini ball ornaments to put on the tree. Mya is the only one old enough to put decorations on the tree, so she got orange ones and put them on mostly by herself. She also got to put the tree topper on the tree.
Some of our other traditions that we want to start are having the kids each pick out a toy to donate to Toys for Tots or some other local toy drive, going to the local Christmas lights parade, taking pictures with Santa (preferably for free, or with our own camera), read the Nativity Story in Luke 2. I would like to get The Forgotten Carols DVD and watch it every year with the kids; I think it is fantastic.
We have been watching one Christmas movie almost every day for the past 2 weeks, I think. Mya really enjoys them. There are a few more I would like to get, though, like The Grinch (both of them) and While You Were Sleeping (for me, not Mya). I think there are a few other Christmas movies I would like, but I can't think of them right now.
Mya even helped Daddy put the tree together. Toby's hoping we can get a real tree next year; we'll see.

It's not the greatest picture, but I like that we actually have one of Mya putting her ornaments on the tree.

Jack got his first tree this year. I absolutely love the fake tree thing and it would have worked better if Kate hadn't of helped. While you Were Sleeping is one of my favorites too.
