Cruise, Part Dos

This post will be basically the same as the previous one about the cruise--mostly a bunch of pictures with captions. Hopefully, that will help you get the best "view" of what our cruise was like. :)

Between Skagway and Ketchikan we sailed through Glacier Bay. We saw some animals and beautiful glaciers.

There are two mountain goats on this mountain.

Glacier Bay is full of lots of amazing scenery. It was really cloudy and cold.

More mountain goats, I think

I really just like some of these pictures that Daddy took. Most of them that I'm posting are reminders of the ones I want to print for our cruise scrapbook.

Lots of little icebergs

Where are the bald eagles? You will definitely need to click on this one to find them.

This is the Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay. This is the one we spent most of our time watching. We saw the ice calving a few times. The sound of the glacier is amazing! The best way that I can describe it is it sounds exactly like the sound a glass of ice makes when you pour water on it (the crackling sound) but magnified about a thousand times and a deeper pitch.

Harbor seals hanging out on some icebergs.

Ice calving

Daddy took this picture just before the ship turned around. I love it because it makes it look like we are right next to the glacier even though we are very far away from it.

This was the biggest piece of ice that we saw calving. Daddy was taking pictures of this exact area of the glacier because some smaller chunks of ice were calving when this one started to fall. We have a series of pictures he took of the whole process that when you look through them really quickly, you can see it like it's actually moving. It's really cool. :)

This is another glacier in Glacier Bay, and I think it's called Johns Hopkins Glacier, but I'm not completely sure.

This picture amuses me because it looks like a giant's face. Can you see it?

Sea otter

I don't remember if this island has a name, but I call Sea Lion Island. The picture below is a zoomed view of it.

View from the back of the ship.

When we took this photo, we totally thought it was an orca. After doing a little research, we realized that it is a porpoise, Dall's porpoise to be exact.

Just some cool pictures of the sea, sun and clouds.

I love this picture because it almost looks fake, but trust me, I made no alterations whatsoever to it.

more Dall's porpoises

One night on board the ship, we decided to eat at Teppanyanki. I had never eaten at a place like this but had seen them on tv shows. It was very entertaining. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but there is our chef and one behind him. There are two more on the other side of the restaurant. The people sitting at the other side were very wild and loud. A few of them had been/were drinking and seemed to get louder the longer they were there. Thankfully, they left before we finished so we could actually hear ourselves talk. ;)

Neat picture of the moon

The pool on board on the night that it got a little bumpy...

Ziplining in Ketchikan was so much fun! We all had a blast!

Part of the ropes course section of it

So during the ziplining, Daddy had the camera pretty much the whole time. The one time I did have the camera, I did a fairly horrible job of taking pictures and didn't even get one decent one of Daddy ziplining. I did however get a few of him climbing the wall at the end of our course.

I went up the easy side (the grips are bigger and closer together).

See that green handle/grip that my left foot is about to step on? When I was repelling down, I managed to get myself turned around and slammed my shoulder blade into it. From what everyone said, it looked a lot worse than it felt. :)

Pretty flower at the gift shop after ziplining

Giant tree on the capital grounds in Victoria, BC

Capitol Building

We even saw Spock and Darth Vader while we were in BC. There are tons of street performers there.

Who knew that Vader could play the fiddle!?!?

Well, that concludes the photos of our fabulous Alaskan Cruise.
