The Saturday after Baby Girl (BG) was born, my parents and older sister flew down to stay with us for a week. It was so great to have them here. I am a little torn between whether I prefer to have them come down right after the baby is born or later. With Monster, they came a couple months after he was born. I really enjoyed that because we were able to do more fun things with them. But with BG, I also really enjoyed having them here the day after we got home. It was nice to have a few extra people to help take care of the two older kids, cooking, cleaning, etc. We did do a couple things and that was fun, but I know that I was pretty tired most of the time and wanted to rest a lot. I think having the help also helped with my recovery. So, I like both situations for different reasons.
While they were here, I was able to take them to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. That was quite the adventure. I didn't realize until a day or two before we went that it was Spring Break for all the schools around here. When we got to Fossil Rim there was a line of cars outside the gate to get into the parking lot. Then there was a line to go into the building to pay and get feed for the animals. And, there was also a line all throughout the drive of the center. Normally, it takes about 2 hours to go through the whole "park," including stopping at the midway point for a bit to walk around. That day, it took us over 4 hours! And to top it all off, we had to pay full price on a regular half-price date because it was Spring Break and considered a holiday! I think it was still a neat experience for them and the kids, but it definitely wasn't the experience I was hoping for. :)
Most of the rest of the time we just hung out at the house. Monster loved having Papa around because he could almost always get Papa to take him outside. Teeny loved having Nana because she would play games with her, read to her and tell her stories. On the way back to the airport, Nana told Teeny stories the whole time. When we got to the airport and they got out, Teeny started crying because she didn't want her grandma to leave. She cried until we got outside the airport gate. I'm so glad that my children get so attached so quickly to people, especially since they don't get to see any of their grandparents very often.
Oh! While they were here Teeny had a double ear infection--yeah, that was fun. ;) My dad was getting over some chest cold or laryngitis. And, Daddy, Teeny and Monster were getting over colds they had.
At BG's two week appointment, she had gone up to 8 lbs. She had dropped to 6 lbs 14 oz when we left the hospital.
Pictures of everything will be coming soon. :)
